Sensational dinner with the flavour of @cooking_for_fam's Soy Sauce Marinated Flank Steak with Mushrooms—a dinner that's both simple and sensational. Tender Australian Flank Steak, infused with an umami-rich soy based sauce and infused with aromatics like garlic, ginger and green onions, paired with sautéed mushrooms for a delightful finish.

Ingredients

  • Flank Steak 850g

For the marinade

  • 4 cloves of minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of minced ginger
  • 2-3 stalks of sliced green onions
  • ½ diced onion
  • 120 ml of soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon of chilli flakes

For the sauce

  • 4 tablespoons of the marinade
  • ¾ teaspoons of vinegar

Method

  1. For the marinade, mix garlic, ginger, green onions, onions, soy sauce, honey, oil, sesame oil, black pepper, chilli flakes.

  2. Mix four tablespoons of the marinade with rice vinegar and set aside for the finishing sauce.

  3. Marinade Beef flank steak and set aside in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.

  4. After an hour, bring Beef flank steak to room temperature and pat dry.

  5. Add oil to a preheated pan until it is smoking hot. Smoking hot oil ensures a great crust on the flank steak.

  6. Sear the marinated flank steak for 3-4 minutes on each side (depending on the thickness of the steak)

  7. Give your flank steak a few minutes to rest before slicing into it.

  8. Serve sliced flank steak with pre-prepared sauce and sautéed mushrooms.
